It is safe to say that;

when you have a slightly bigger head, not all headphones fit perfectly and are comfortable enough to wear for long periods of long hours.

Fortunately, that is the beauty of the AKG K553 MKII, because they are currently the best closed-back, over the ear studio headphones on the market right now.

This is an Austrian Brand that has been known to produce quality headphone for close to 7 decades and still going strong.

For more let’s dive into the detailed AKG K533 review.

AKG K553 MKII Review

Design

The AKG K553 MKII is generally all black headphones with a stylish look to them that make that fashion statement and can perfectly go with any coloured outfit and still stands out.

The headband is made off maroon metallic plates that adjustable on both sides to ensure that you get that secure fit.

These are generally large cans, Over-ear headphones with huge ear cups and if you have a smaller head they might not fit properly.

Despite the strong and sturdy built these headphones are actually light weighing at around 1.37 pounds.

The large soft leathered ear pads make them very comfortable to wear for long periods of time stress-free.

Performance

They are clearly designed with studio professionals in mind and they do sound better than most of the closed-back headphones in its range.

The advantage in performance is that unlike its competitors the company has specialized in midrange frequencies.

The 50 mm drivers give that balance in sound quality and precise accuracy in distinguishing the midranges.

With the AKG K553 MKII, you get to experience an effective bass when listening to your favourite music and clear stereo separation because of the low impedance drivers.

These headphones are best suited to listen to soft acoustics like jazz, rock or salsa music.

WHAT WE LIKE

One of the great things about these headphones is that they can swivel 90 degrees and the earpads can make a quarter turn.

This is a good feature because it allows for the studio professionals to mix and master without necessary having to place the headphones direct on the head.

The other plus that comes with manoeuvrability is that they can be stored in a flat surface and with ease and this is ideal for travelling purposes.

Another advantage that comes with the AKG K553 is because they are the closed-back type of headphones so they do offer noise isolation to some degree

But you will still get to hear some of the surrounding noise if you are in a crowded area.

The ear pads are also removable and replaced with new ones of your choosing and so you get to explore with different materials to find what best suits your tastes.

The other fact is that this is the latest in the K500 series on the AKG headphones and so there has been some improvements, for example, is the addition of detachable wire.

This makes them flexible and also adds to the durability of the headphones because you can replace a worn out wire with a new one.

They also come with have labelling on each side on the ear pads to ensure that there is sound appropriation.

WHAT WE DON’T LIKE

The AKG K553 MKII is no doubt one of the best studio headphones on the market for monitoring, mastering and mixing but they are not the best when it comes to listening to music with deep bass sound.

Conclusion

In summary, the AKG K553 MKII is a studio headset that was built for mastering, mixing and monitoring.

The built-in design is both stylish and versatile and they are perfect for home listening and for studio professionals on the go.

They have a strong and sturdy built and this means that they will be able to last for long periods of time.

The price of the headphone is also affordable and yet you get to listen to music with accuracy in sound quality with impedance of low frequency that does not require an additional amp.

Plus it comes with an eighth-inch pin connection with a quarter inch adapter which you can connect to a wide range of devices.
